Walt Fair earned his Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law in 1983 at the age of 23, after being admitted to the law school prior to completing his undergraduate studies. During his undergraduate years at Baylor, he was named to the Dean’s Distinguished Academic Honor List.
His involvement in the land title industry began in 1976. He served as Managing Director of Home Abstract and Title Company until 2003 and was recognized in 1991 as Stewart Title Guaranty Company’s Texas Young Titleman of the Year.
Walt is an adjunct college professor and holds Texas Real Estate Commission instructor licenses for Principles of Real Estate, Real Estate Law, Promulgated Contract Forms, Law of Contracts, Law of Agency, and continuing education electives. He is licensed to practice law in Texas and Colorado, and is admitted to the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and the Supreme Court of the United States.
He has held several leadership positions, including Chairman of the Board of Synergy Bank and Synergy Mortgage Corporation, and previously served as President of RE/MAX Centex, Realtors, where he was named RE/MAX of Texas Broker/Owner of the Year in both 2012 and 2014. He is currently the founder of AXIO Real Estate.
Walt has received Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent® rating, 
a distinction awarded to approximately the top 5% of attorneys nationwide based on peer evaluations of legal ability and ethical standards. Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings, the most established and comprehensive lawyer rating system in the country, have assessed attorneys through the confidential opinions of the Bar and Judiciary since 1887.
Practice Focus
Walt Fair primarily represents financial institutions, investors, developers, builders, and individuals in real estate transaction settlements. The firm serves as a fee attorney office for Fidelity National Title Insurance Company agencies and closes more than one thousand real estate transactions each year. It also documents thousands of additional transactions annually for bank clients and provides IRC § 1031 qualified intermediary services through its affiliate.
Walt has substantial experience in the formation and operation of series limited liability companies and the use of liability compartmentalization structures.
